Kernow Youth Select Team
Martin Adams
I’ve been a youth football coach for many years, starting out at Illogan Junior Football Club. I currently coach at Redruth United and joined Kernow Youth Select in 2017.
Although we missed out on two tournaments during the Covid years, returning to Germany has reminded me just how important these trips are. For the young footballers, it’s a chance to create memories that last a lifetime playing abroad, meeting new friends and representing Kernow with pride.
The satisfaction we get as coaches when drills/moves we’ve worked on the training pitch come to fruition during a match is second to none. To guide them in work rate, determination, passion and respect for others both on and off the field. For me as a coach I have the privilege of going back each year, seeing new generations of players grow, develop, and share in those unforgettable moments.
Adam Martin
I have been a youth coach and the youth chairman at Hayle Football Club since 2019. In 2024 I became the Welfare and Respect Officer for the Cornwall Youth Football League and that was also the year that I joined the Kernow Youth Select team.
I am incredibly proud to be a coach for Kernow Youth Select and a part of such a dedicated and committed team. This tour consistently improves and offers fantastic opportunities for the players chosen. Having been part of both the Under 13 and Under 15 management teams I particularly enjoy helping with the selection of both squads. The experience has been rewarding, and I look forward to contributing further to the tour’s success.
Garrie Follett
My personal experience with youth football began as a player representing Sutton Utd youth who played in the South London league system. When I moved to Cornwall I joined Truro FC. As an adult I played for St Agnes and progressed to player manager.
I started Grasshopper Youth Extra Whites in 2017 and in 2023 I was fortunate enough to have 3 of my team selected by KYS to play tournament football in the Netherlands and Germany.
I am now part of the KYS team and it is a huge privilege to have the role of coach with our U15’s Lions. It’s amazing to be able get out and about in Cornwall visiting so many of our fantastic youth football clubs to help with the selection of our U15’s and also our U13’s and our Cobra girls!
Leanne Harvey
I began my youth football journey in the Midlands before relocating to Cornwall in 1999. In Cornwall, I spent most of my women’s football career playing for Penzance in the Women’s South Western Premier League.
Over the past 25 years, I have dedicated myself to coaching boys’ and girls’ football in various settings, including schools, clubs, and the Cornwall Girls Centre of Excellence. This extensive experience has equipped me with valuable skills and insights into the sport. I was thrilled to manage the first all-girls Kernow Youth Select squad to embark on this tour. This remarkable opportunity allows the girls to showcase their talent and gain invaluable experience. I am eager to support them as they represent Kernow Youth Select and make lasting friendships and memories.
Chloe Harris
I have played football since the age of 10 and currently play for Sticker Women. I began coaching at the Cornwall Girls Talent Centre at the age of seventeen before moving away and coaching at the Devon Emerging Talent Centre until 2022 when I moved back to sunny Cornwall.
In 2023 I secured a job as a Football Development Officer for Cornwall County Football Association and became manager of the Cornwall County Football Association Emerging Talent Centre. Since then, I have achieved my UEFA B licence and my National Talent Identification Certificate.
Having joined Kernow Youth Select in 2025 I am delighted to be part of the Cobras management team taking Cornwall’s young female footballers on tour to Germany and Holland.
Tom Philcox
My journey with Kernow Youth Select started as a player, initially with the Under 13s and later the Under 15s. I had the privilege of participating in two tours as a junior coach, which were incredibly rewarding experiences. These tours not only allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for football but also to witness the growth and development of young players first-hand.
In 2022, I was honoured to become a team manager, a role I continue to cherish as I work alongside our talented young Cornwall footballers. The tour remains an extraordinary experience for everyone involved, creating unforgettable memories that last a lifetime. I am eager to use my experience and skills to guide and coach the players towards another successful and memorable tour.
Glenn Rowe
A Rosudgeon and Penzance boy at heart, I was first selected for the under-13s squad in 1999. That experience left a lasting impression, leading me to pursue my FA coaching Level 1 and then Sports Science and Physio degrees. In 2017, I was honoured to return to the group in a supporting role.
In 2022, I had the incredible opportunity to join Tom as coach for the Hawks and the rest is history! It’s been a privilege to witness the organisation’s growth since my youth. Being part of the tour and contributing to player development in such a unique environment has created wonderful memories. Each year has been filled with joy and I eagerly anticipate supporting and helping the team alongside the amazing talent joining us.

Luke Hitchens
I’m thrilled to return as coach for the U13 Bears. I am a proud to be a “veteran” of this
fantastic tour. After a successful first year, I’m coming back with even greater motivation
to create unforgettable memories for every young Cornish footballer selected. Last year
was an incredible experience, and I’m honoured to have the chance to help deliver the
same for this new group of players.
With a background in sport science, my coaching philosophy focuses on building a fun,
supportive, and high-performing environment. I believe in evidence-based practices
that not only develop skills but also foster confidence and teamwork. My goal is simple:
to make this tour an inspiring and rewarding journey for every player involved
Dan Tommasi
I am honoured to be joining Kernow Youth Select for the 2026 tour. I have been a youth football coach for many years and am currently at Perranporth Football Club where I manage many of the youth teams.
I am committed to ensuring that the tour is one of the most positive experiences that the selected players have in their youth footballing careers. As a calm, organised, and knowledgeable coach, I enjoy being on the training ground, building positive relationships within a squad. My goal is to create a sense of camaraderie and growth, allowing each player to thrive and enjoy their football.
I am dedicated to making this tour memorable and enriching for everyone involved, ensuring that the players leave with cherished memories and valuable experiences.
Sue Morse
In 2010 I joined Penzance Youth Football Club as a coach and also provided administrative support, and I became the secretary in 2014. I now coach and manage several of the Penzance youth teams, and if I’m not standing by a local football pitch you will find me at home watching my beloved Spurs. My first tour with Kernow Youth Select was in 2022.
I love being part of a team that gives our young footballers the chance to challenge themselves, to grow as players and to make memories that will last a lifetime. There is nothing better than seeing players give everything on the pitch, showing pride, teamwork and a true Cornish spirit. Watching them represent their county is such a proud moment for everyone involved.
